Mike Bacsik is departing the K&C Masterpiece and 105.3 The Fan.
Bacsik, who has worked with the station since 2011, shared the news on Monday's show that his final day with the station will come on Feb. 28 when the show is broadcasting live from Rangers spring training in Surprise, Arizona.
The former Rangers pitcher spoke about the decision for him and the station to mutually part ways due to his new role as the primary television analyst on Texas Rangers' broadcasts on the club's new Rangers Sports Network.
"Obviously, I'm pumped about my job as the Rangers analyst on television, and I'll be doing approximately 100 games there for the Texas Rangers, and just looking at it from the station, looking at it from the perspective of how much I’d be traveling with the team, me looking at it on the duty that I have to do Ranger games, that it just wasn’t going to be really possible to do both,” Bacsik said on K&C. “So making the split – we’ll be headed to spring training at the end of the month, so my last shows on the station will be at Surprise covering the Texas Rangers, which is very cool to kind it that way.”
Bacsik will work alongside Rangers' play-by-play broadcaster Dave Raymond for around 100 games, while former Rangers outfielder David Murphy will be the analyst for the other games.
You can still hear Bacsik on the K&C Masterpiece for the next few weeks until his final show at the end of the month. He'll also be part of some of the Rangers' pregame and postgame shows that will be simulcast on 105.3 The Fan and the new RSN.
"We couldn't be more thrilled for Mike and our listeners will still get to hear him on 105.3 The Fan for our Rangers Pregame and Postgame shows," said Gavin Spittle, V.P of News/Talk/Sports for Audacy Dallas/Fort Worth. "I think it says a lot about Mike, Jared Sandler, The Fan and our partnership with the Rangers that both will get increased roles."
