Mesquite Police released a video describing the investigation during the OIS incident at a Mesquite high school.
A student who brought a gun to a Mesquite charter school Monday was injured in a shooting involving officers, police say.
The incident happened at 8:49 a.m. in Mesquite at the Oates campus of the Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy, according to a letter from district Superintendent Shubham Pandey and Mesquite Police.
Officers tried to negotiate with the 16-year-old student and during that process, three officers fired at the subject, Mesquite police said. However, it is still being investigated if the student got injured by bullet or shrapnel. No other students or officers were injured and the person who had the gun on campus was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
"We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our students, staff, and parents as we deal with this matter," Pandey wrote. "We will continue to keep our school community informed of any developments."
Police said parents and students will be reunited at Northside Baptist Church in the 3100 block of Moon Drive.
