ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD)- Rarely does a municipal fiscal year budget presentation go viral. But, the exception is Arlington.
In recent years, Jay Warren, the city's Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs, has been creating light-hearted videos laying out the city's proposed budget for the next fiscal year. He uses graphics and animation and video with unusual camera angles to explain where the city's money is going.
This year, he has incorporated his own childhood hobby, Legos, to create a Lego Movie-style animation to lay out Arlington's proposed $552-million operating budget.
Warren set up several large tables to create a Lego city and then asked city videographers to create the stop-motion animation to make it come alive. As of Friday morning, the video has nearly 700,000 views on YouTube.
