Legendary Texas singer and songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker has died at age 78.
His biggest hit was Mr. Bojangles, a song later covered by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Sammy Davis, Jr.
His live album 'Viva Terlingua' helped make him a Texas music legend.
Walker moved to Austin in the 70's and was one of the many artists who developed the Austin music scene along with Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, and Ray Wylie Hubbard who wrote a song Walker turned into a hit.
Walker's cause of death has not been released. Funeral arrangements are pending.
