President Donald Trump shared his thoughts on the royal family last week, saying he wasn’t interested in deporting Prince Harry, who is currently living in California with his wife, actress Meghan Markle.
Trump shared his thoughts while speaking with the New York Post, almost a year after he accused former President Biden’s administration of “protecting Harry.” He said at the time that he wouldn’t do the same, but now appears to have switched his position.
“I don’t want to do that,” Trump told the Post on Friday. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
The remarks from Trump are a complete turn from last February, when he told the UK Daily Express that Prince Harry had “betrayed the queen.”
However, during the Friday interview, Trump said he thinks “poor Harry” is “whipped” by Markle.
Trump has often shared his thoughts on Prince Harry and Markle over the course of their fall out with the royal family. In 2023, Trump shared with Hugh Hewit that he disagreed with decisions made by Biden when they came to the United States.
“I didn’t like the idea that they [Harry and Markle] were getting U.S. security when they came over here,” Trump said at the time.
However, the criticism has flowed both ways, as the royal couple has shared their dislike for Trump, with Markle calling him “divisive” and “misogynistic” during his 2016 campaign.
As for the rest of the royal family, Trump called Prince William, who is the heir to the throne, a “great young man.”
The pair were seen talking together in December at the reopening ceremonies of the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which suffered a near-catastrophic fire five years ago.
