SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 39-year-old man was charged Friday with a stabbing attack in front of Kennedy Elementary School in Santa Ana.

The stabbing occurred about 11 a.m. Wednesday in front of the school at 1300 E. McFadden Ave., near Grand Avenue, according to Santa Ana Police Department Sgt. Maria Lopez. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening and was taken to a hospital, Lopez added.

Ivan Ayalacuevas was charged with a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon on one victim and a felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury on another victim he previously dated, according to the criminal complaint. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of being a disruptive presence at a school.

Ayalacuevas pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was ordered to return June 6 for a pretrial hearing in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
