Some BIG CHANGES go into effect this Sunday. The Commerce Department plans to restrict access to TikTok & WeChat Sunday 9/20/2020 this is part of the Trump administration's executive orders against the two apps. This will prevent app stores from distributing or maintaining WeChat or TikTok. Users who have already downloaded the apps should not be impacted by the restrictions, however, improved or updated versions of either app will not be downloadable.
Per CNN "Today's actions prove once again that President Trump will do everything in his power to guarantee our national security and protect Americans from the threats of the Chinese Communist Party," said Ross. "At the President's direction, we have taken significant action to combat China's malicious collection of American citizens' personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations."
