“On the advice of public health officials, the City of Sacramento has made the difficult decision to cancel the New Year’s Eve Sky Spectacular on the Old Sacramento Waterfront due to the recent spread of the Omicron variant,” the city said in a statement. “We are hopeful for safer opportunities to gather in large groups in 2022.”
The average rate was 12.9 cases per 100,000. County health officials said the same point a year ago there were 60 cases per 100,000.
