LISTEN NOW: Big Tigger talks with Zak Levitt

This ten-part documentary style podcast titled The Set explores the "Dirty 30" of New York's 30th precinct.

As the writer, director, and narrator -- Zak Levitt sat down with Big Tigger to share what inspired him to pursue this story.

"It started with this high-level of curiosity on my part," Levitt admitted, "something sort of blew my mind in the beginning and I wanted to know more about it."

Taking place during the '90s, what some may consider the "crack era," Levitt remembers watching movies that alluded to these activities like New Jack City and he didn't believe that something like this could actually happen -- but it was. "Entire neighborhoods essentially had been turned into open-air drug markets... and the police were out there 'doing whatever they could' to fight against it," he said. "You start from there and you could imagine all the things that could possibly go wrong."

"My goal ultimately is, I hope people learn something while they're being entertained," Levitt shared. "I hope people take from this how easy it is that this can happen."

He explains how this story is being told from the "inside" and it has "never been told before," as listeners will hear from whistleblowers, corrupt officers that served time, investigators and more to give an exclusive insight on the story.

All ten episodes of The Set are available for you to binge now on the free Audacy app.
