Ryan Weathers struggled against the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. The Nationals jumped on Weathers early, scoring 4 runs in the 2nd inning on an RBI-single from Keibert Ruiz, an RBI-double by Alex Call and a run-scoring sacrifice fly by Luis Garcia. Rougned Odor briefly pulled the Padres to within 2 runs on his no-doubt-about-it 2-run blast in the top of the 4th inning, but Washington responded in the bottom of the 4th with an RBI-double by Lane Thomas to make it a 5-2 game. Ha-Seong Kim's 5th home run of the season, a solo shot to right center in the 5th inning pulled the Padres back to within striking distance, but that would be the last time the Friars crossed home plate. Blake Snell will try to wrap up a series win for the Padres in the rubber match on Thursday.
