The Padres have announced the signing of 2B Robinson Cano, who was recently designated for assignment by the Mets. Cano slashed .195/.233/.268 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs in 12 games for the Mets. Cano is a career .302 hitter with 335 home runs and 2,632 hits for the Yankees, Mariners and Mets. To make room on the 26-man roster for Cano, the Padres optioned RHP Dinelson Lamet to Triple-A El Paso.
