It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since 9/11 happened. Those whose lives have been lost have not been forgotten. How can you honor them? Here are a few remembrance events happening around San Diego on Saturday, September 11th.
Remember the Fallen Workout
Over at the San Diego Convention Center in downtown there will be a Stair Climb workout to pay tribute to those lost. Get ready to sweat during this hour and a half workout starting at 7:16a. Register for the event here.
9/11 Heroes Run, Rancho Bernardo High School
Run, Walk, or Ruck (run/walk) to honor the heroes of 9/11. This 5k starts at Rancho Bernardo High School at 8a. You can participate in person or virtually. Register here.
9/11 Memorial Reading of names at Fire Station 1
The Valley Center Fire Protection District is hosting their annual remembrance event starting at 9a, in which they'll be reading all the names of those lost during the terror attacks. The ceremony will be followed by a Patriot Day celebration.
9/11 Memorial Concert, Oceanside 1p-3p
St. Thomas More Catholic Church is hosting a memorial concert which will include Moments of Silence and Music. This is a free event located at 1450 South Melrose in Oceanside.
USS Midway 9/11 Memorial Service and Dinner
This is the biggest memorial event on the west coast. Join FDNY Retirees of San Diego, Wounded Warrior Project, National City Fire Department, and San Diego Fire Department aboard the USS Midway at 2:30p for the 20th Anniversary Memorial of September 11.
Admission is free for all day long. Following the memorial ceremony will be a free dinner reception at the San Diego Firehouse Museum. Here's more info on the event.
Evening with Heroes, Chula Vista
Join the Chula Vista Police department for a special evening. They'll be honoring and remembering the men and woman in blue with a cocktail reception and luau dinner starting at 4p. Get your tickets for the event here.
