The usual get-togethers might be on hold this 4th of July weekend. Add that to a pretty good chance of rain and 100% chance of crazy heat, so if all that has you looking for family fun that can happen inside the AC, here are my picks for some fun 4th of July movies for your family.
1. The Sandlot Kids, baseball, big 4th of July scene...what's not to love. You're killin me, Smalls.
2. National TreasureThe movie is an actual national treasure. (Can this double as home-school??? Kidding.)
3. An American TailFievel is looking for the American dream. Great for little ones.
4. Night at the MuseumBen Still sees tons of U.S. historical figures come to life.
5. MiracleThe story of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team's miracle on ice... USA! USA! USA!
6. Independence DayWill Smith fights off aliens on a 4th of July blockbuster.
7. Men In BlackOk, nothing to do with the actual 4th of July, but remember when Will Smith owned the box office every 4th of July?
8. Top GunFighter jets and Tom Cruise!
9. Free WillyMissing that summer beach trip? Me too.
10. The American PresidentCan you talk your kids into a romance movie? Ok, maybe after they go to bed
11. A League of their OwnMadonna plays baseball with Tom Hanks.
12. The Music ManIt's time you kids knew the songs your parents forced you to hear. It's tradition.
13. Captain America Or really any super hero movie.
14. This Is America Charlie BrownThis covers actual history in a way we can all understand. (Technically not a movie, but let's not fight today.)
15. Hidden FiguresBased on the true story of the Black women who helped launch NASA astronauts into space. It doesn't get more American if you ask me.
16. Rocky IVNot for sensitive kids since ya know, Appolo dies at the start (sorry, spoiler alert), but Rocky and USA win in the end (sorry, spoiler alert again).
