How lucky are we to have this amazing weather?!? It was in the 70's this weekend and will be again next weekend. The Los Angeles area has snow today. Snow!!! Insane. So over the weekend, luckily my daughter reminded me we needed to get outside... and by that I mean she whined that she "was so bored and there was nothing to do" of course. We ended up playing mini golf at City Putt and we had a great time! It got me thinking about how we used to go there a lot, but since last March when we locked down we hadn't really done those activities. What else had we forgotten?
Here's my list of some reminders about all the (mostly) safe activities for some family fun:
- City Putt in City Park
- Storyland (limited admission keeping it less crowded)
- Boat and bike rentals in City Park
- Sculpture Garden in City Park
- Grab beignets and sit outside at Cafe du Monde in City Park
- Picnic at any area park or even neighborhood playground, even better with takeout from a local restuarant
- Zoo (limited admission keeping it less crowded)
- Take a bike ride on the levee at the lake or park
- Walk over that big bridge at Crescent Park
- Head to The Fly at Audubon Park (Riverview Park) for frisee, freeze tag, fly a kite or just enjoy the views of the river
- Nature scavenger hunt at Audubon Park, City Park, Lafreniere Park, Mandeville Lake Front, Fontainebleau State Park or anywhere you like
- Swamp Tour (many are offering limited seating for safety)
- Cemetery "Tour" (probably skip the groups and just go on your own - really any outdoor field trip they've take at school would work)
- Jam Nola is great for future social media influencers to take fun selfies
- Batting cages if there's one near you (Houma and Covington I think are the only outside options)
- Skate Park - I think I'll sit that one out and just let the kids enjoy it. There are spots in Kenner, New Orleans and Mandeville.
Just grab hand wipes and sanitizer and enjoy yourself!
Here's my daughter outisde of City Putt from this weekend. Yes, her mask is down, but there was nobody near her. :)
