The Coronavirus has changed plans for everyone, but if you were planning a wedding, you've been working on changing A LOT. For about a year (or years!) you've had one big date circled on the calendar. That date isn't going to be your special day any longer, but it does still feel special. So here are a 5 ways to celebrate and honor the place that date holds for you.
1. Virtual "Reception" Toast - Your friends and family had plans for this date too. Let them join you for a short toast, talk about how crazy this all is or even do a dry-run on that first dance all via Zoom.
2. Self-Care and Reconnect Time - Just because in your house it doesn't mean it can't feel a little like your honeymoon, right? Ok. It won't feel quite the same, but allow for a little special time together. Were you planning a couples massage on the honeymoon? Take turns giving each other one. Plan a special night for just the two of you without chores or TV.
3. Let Them (You) Eat Cake...and Dinner - ...from your planned wedding bakery or caterer if you can. Order a small cake from the same spot and if it's an option, dinner from the restaurant or caterer you are planning to use for your wedding. The local businesses will appreciate your support and you picked them because you love them, right?
4. More Planning - There is still a wedding coming up after all. Want to just dig into the planning and full embrace all those details? Do it together and hopefully no arguements about seating arrangements at the reception.
5. Wallow In It - If you're feeling a ton of emotions about all the change, it's okay to embrace them. If you need a little self-pitty time...give yourself permission to feel those feelings. Feel free to greive the day. It's still *your* day. Use it however you need to.
