Wet Nose Wednesday Pets: Amaya and Lionel

Add more love to your Valentine's Day by adopting these 2 lovebirds together!
Amaya and Lionel the cats

These two lovebirds are overdue for adoption! Meet Amaya and her boyfriend, Lionel. We know who wears the pants in this relationship, it’s Amaya! She will accept affection from Lionel, but when she’s had enough she’s not above swatting gently at Lionel as if to say ‘enough now’! When these two are out together on a date in the cat condo, the first thing they do is check on each other with a head butt, and will briefly entwine their tails together.

Lionel and Amaya met at the animal shelter during the summer of 2019, when they both came in as stray kittens from different litters. Both were fearful of people, and both preferred the comfort of a cardboard box instead of a person’s lap. This may be why, for many months, Amaya and Lionel were overlooked as the other cats were adopted one by one. Despite this, they were forming a bond together and seemed to boost each other’s confidence in new situations.

Their big break came in July of 2020, when in the midst of a pandemic, they were adopted together!  Everyone was so excited!  Unfortunately, a few months later, they were returned because their owner had some serious health issues.

So here we are, in February 2021, nearly 3 years later, still looking for a home for both of these cats. Because we’ve had them so long, and because they’ve been through so much together, we feel it is only fair to offer them for adoption as a pair. And just in time for Valentine’s Day too!

Amaya is a grey tabby born in April, 2019. Lionel is a black cat born in October of 2018. If you have room in your home for these two, please email ryeaton@jeffparish.net to arrange a meet and greet!
