It's vaccine season! Now that Louisiana has really opened up the eligibility, everyone is talking about getting their vaccine appointment. If you've booked yours - congrats! If you need to book, here's how we did it.
LCMC: Linda booked her appointment for the Convention Center by Googling and ended up at this link, https://www.lcmchealth.org/vaccine/.
WALMART: Annette booked her husband and sent several friends who booked easily through Walmart at this link, https://www.walmart.com/cp/flu-shots-immunizations/1228302. (I just checked and lots of Walmart locations have appointments at this moment I'm typing for Tues the 16th).
SIDE EFFECTS: Should you worry at all about the side effects? After my first shot (Moderna) I had only a red spot for a couple of days at the injection site and it was a little sore if you touched it. My husband felt terrible after his 2nd shot (Moderna) - chills, fever, and slept for 2 days. But if the vaccine hit him that hard, I cannot imagine how bad Covid would have been for him. So happy he got it!
Full disclosure, I (Annette) went over the border and booked in Mississippi. Did I feel a little guilty? Yes, but there were SO MANY available appointments and it felt like the goal is to get people vaccinated as quickly as possible so I did. Also, my husband is very unwell lately and he qualified under his home health care so I justified it because I'm his caregiver. Sorta. Whatever. Don't judge me. :)
However and wherever you get your vaccine - just make the choice to do it. We want to see everyone's smiles again!
Dr. Fauci recently said not to feel any guilt about getting your shot if you can. He said if it's available to you - take it! And side note: they aren't measuring your BMI or checking if you smoke in case you are borderline on the eligibility. We have the shots. In fact, check out the national news story on our available vaccines...
