Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, and Paul Simon are set to headline the reopening of the Big Apple at New York City’s “homecoming concert” following the closure of venues and businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the city now open for business, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the outdoor event with Springsteen, Hudson, and Simon helmed by iconic record producer Clive Davis will be held this summer in Central Park with several more performers still to be announced.

“This is going to be one of the greatest Central Park concerts in history,” the mayor said during his remarks. “This is something for the ages.”

Central Park’s Great Lawn is the scene, however, an official date for the event is yet to be announced. Mayor De Blasio foresees a 60,000+ crowd to be in attendance as a majority of the tickets will be free -- with at least 70 percent of the passes being held for those already vaccinated.

New York City is also getting prepared to honor hometown healthcare and essential heroes on Wednesday, July 7.

"The Canyon of Heroes is reserved for the greatest among us. I can’t think of anyone greater than our health care workers," de Blasio said on social media today. "First responders, educators, and essential workers. They saw us through the #COVID19 crisis with bravery, compassion, and grit. Tomorrow we honor them."
