The song is the first peek into an even bigger project for the 2003 American Idol runner-up as he plans to release a Christmas album, Christmas Bells are Ringing, on November 22. Through the album, and specifically the single — which was originally written in 1962 as a plea for peace — Aiken hopes to spread joy and love amidst a tense world.
“The whole American political climate over the past few years hasn't really given us much in the way of hope or optimism,” Aiken shared. “As much as I wanted to believe I might be able to make some positive change in that world, I've realized that music often does a better job of that.”
Fans will remember Aiken took a break from music over a decade ago to run for Congressional office in North Carolina, as well as dedicate his time to raising his son.
Returning back to his musicianship to spread his message, Aiken looks forward to releasing, Christmas Bells are Ringing, on November 22. See the entire track list below.
