David Schwimmer was doing theater in Chicago when his agent called him about playing Ross in Friends and his response was a firm No. He didn't even hesitate. Turns out he had a bad experience filming a series and was mega relieved when the show got cancelled. I think we get more interesting interviews like this because the late night hosts don't have an audience that they feel pressure to make laugh.
