AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The Austin City Council on Thursday approved a number of items aimed at providing bill relief to Austin Energy and Austin Water customers following February's brutal winter storm.

All Austin Energy residential customers will receive a one-time bill credit of $10 on their first bill after March 19.

For customers who had to relocate due to damaged homes, the utility will waive new service initiation fees for services established between February 15 and April 3.

Finally, council also approved an additional $10 million in utility bill relief, expanding on earlier programs for COVID-19 relief efforts. According to the city, last year, nearly $50 million in relief benefitted 15,000 families.
