Conrad Roy Jr., of Fairhaven got a Father's Day surprise he will never forget.
The Fairhaven native said he lost his hard hat back in 2014 while working at a New Bedford job site with his late son, Conrad Roy III.
His son died by suicide later that year, and Conrad has been mourning the loss, while looking for signs from his son.
Well, he got just that. According to WCVB, Conrad was scrolling Facebook over the weekend and noticed a post about a hard hat that washed up on the shores of the Azores - 2,000 miles away from us.
Conrad realized it was his hat - New Bedford sticker and all - and quickly became emotional. He felt like this was a Father's Day gift from his late son.
"I'm happy today because it felt like he brought that to me," Conrad said.
Hopefully that brought Conrad and his family some peace on Father's Day.
