Four friends. More than 100 miles. Memories for a lifetime.
Denise Payette-Holmes, Peter Wildes, Link Erskine and Joe McHugh decided to follow in the footsteps of their fathers and take a walk from Maine to Fenway all while raising money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
According to the Boston Herald, the four retraced the steps of their Dad's, who took this same walk back in 1973. It all started when Joe McHugh's father had a hernia operation, and his doctor recommended he go for walks.
So, he decided if he was going to be walking, he would be doing it for charity. He wrangled three of his friends and made it to Fenway Park in four days, while raising $18,000 for Dana-Farber.
50 years later, their children decided to achieve the same amazing feat.
Oh, and did I mention they made this walk from South Portland to Fenway during Tropical Storm Elsa? No big deal.
So far this foursome has raised almost $40,000! You can donate to their cause here.
