We continue on with Karson & Kennedy's Clear the List chatting with Melissa & Courtney, two teachers who need your help to get their classrooms ready for the upcoming school year! Here is Courtney's link and here is Melissa's Also, below you will find a bunch more lists to clear!
My name is Julia White and I am a first year teacher at South - West Middle School in Quincy. I have been hired to teach 7th Grade Social Studies and honestly have my dream job! I went through QPS in grades K-8 and my student teaching in Quincy and I have so many teachers to thank for my success. Growing up, I was diagnosed with a learning disability called dyscalculia, which makes me struggle with math and basic mathematical concepts, like telling time and giving change. It was because of teachers like my 8th Grade math teacher Mr. Clark taught me that I am smart and capable. It was because of this that I was inspired to become a teacher and help students like myself realize how amazing and brilliant they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for creating this event.

Hi! My name is Kim Flynn and I've been teaching first grade for over 30 years in Holliston, MA. In the beginning, I was given a small budget to order supplies that my classroom needed. Things that would enrich the learning experience for my students. It wasn't long before that annual budget was allocated to other school departments. So I started spending more and more money to provide what my students needed. Even after becoming a single mom of a special needs child, I would prioritize my students in lieu of other things. Upgrades to my home and new clothes always seemed like they could wait.
After all, how could I teach without markers, pencils, crayons, scissors, and books? I had already spent over $250 on consumables when I heard about this wonderful program. There are still so many materials that I would love to have to enrich my students and further their education. This summer I took a course about the science of reading, and most of the materials I am requesting will help me implement the best teaching practices based on the latest brain research. I know there are so many people with big hearts out there and I'm hoping some of them might be able to help me out.
Thanks Karson and Kennedy and Mix 104.1 for getting the message out that teachers need help, especially at this time of year. Thank you, thank you!!

You all rock! Clear the list is such an amazing idea to help support local teachers and communities. Thank you for the support you give to us every day. My name is Caryssa Johnson and I am a first grade teacher at the Hooks Elementary School in Chelsea, MA. The Chelsea community was extremely impacted by Covid-19 and as a result we have hundreds of students who are working three times as hard daily to be successful in school. The items of my list can really help continue to make my classroom a safe and successful learning environment for my students in Chelsea. Any support or donations are greatly appreciated and would not go to waste.

My name is Jocelyn Bossart and I am a speech/language pathologist in Southborough MA for kindergartners and first graders. My students may have a delay or disorders with articulation, social/emotional development and/or language development. Some have neurological or mental health impairments, such as autism or ADHD or learning disorders, such as a reading disorder. Many have more than one! Where grade-level classroom curriculum materials are purchased through our administration, I don't follow a specific curriculum that can be purchased. My therapy is individualized for each student and I focus on a different need with each student. I use a variety of games, books and self-purchased therapy materials. I also pay for my own professional development specific to my students' needs. I am also the school's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum c0-leader, so I will help head up our social/development programs and put together monthly themes and programs to enhance the students' development of their self-awareness and connections with others. I'd love help with getting new books and materials for my students and also for the school-wide assemblies we will do for the SEL programs. Thank you for considering helping me clear my list!

My name is Kristin Byrne and I work as a science teacher at Peabody High School. I teach biology and environmental science. A lot of people think of high school instruction as lecturing and note taking, but it goes far beyond that. I strive to provide interactive, hands on experiences in my classroom that help my students connect the material to their lives. Over my 9 years teaching our science department budget has been cut in half. The school does not provide basic supplies beyond (sometimes) pencils and dry erase markers. I have spent thousands of dollars over the past 9 years on supplies to make my classroom both welcoming and interactive. I am so thankful for the clear the list campaigns, and any help is greatly appreciated!

My name is Joyce Martins and I'm a second-year teacher teaching 5th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies in Revere. I have three classes and about 90 students. Most of my students are English learners and with severe socioeconomic needs. Fostering a love for reading is my main goal, and one of the ways I can do that is by providing a rich and diverse library which includes books in students' home language. My list includes books in Portuguese and Spanish - two of the most spoken languages in my classroom. Studies have shown that English proficiency is better attained if the English learner reads well in their primary language, so I hope these books will enrich my students' learning this year and beyond. Wordless picture books also help assess students' comprehension through picture clues and aid in creative writing.
Finally, some organizational items are included on my list because many of my 5th graders need support with organization and executive functioning.

My name is Pamela Clegg and I am a 7/8 grade E/LA and Social Studies teacher in a full inclusion setting in Roslindale. I work with students who have a wide variety of learning and social emotional needs. It's challenging to supply materials for both of the subject areas that I teach. The generosity of the Mix 104.1 listeners is greatly appreciated in the support of building and maintaining a successful classroom.
