Karson & Kennedy's Clear the List 8/22/22

clear the list
Mix 104.1

We thank you all for your support of our teachers!! If you haven't had a chance to help a local teacher clear their list, here is your time to shine!

My name is Kris Sleight and I am a teacher in the Worcester Public School District and I think this is an amazing program. The school I teach at is an inner-city school and 90% of the population is in the low-socioeconomic poverty level. Many students cannot bring school supplies, especially since everything has become so expensive in recent months. I teach 7th grade Ancient Civilization and through projects and hands-on work, I am able to help my students connect the past to the present. I hope that someone will be generous to help out my students and my classroom!! I have always had to use my own money to fund my classroom, so anything from my list would be greatly appreciated.

You guys are absolutely amazing. I hate to admit it BUT I have not been listening as much as I usually do since I have been sleeping in during summer vacation. I cannot wait to listen to you in the morning again during my commute!

So, I taught  Kindergarten in Arlington for 3 years. I am happy to announce that I am switching districts and teaching first grade! I am taking over a classroom that is a bit of a mess. This poor teacher was taking her maternity leave this year, but had to leave suddenly last school year due to many complications. Luckily her baby is happy and healthy and so is mom. However, her classroom is bonkers. I mean there was still Christmas stuff up.... There was a sub in there and I cannot imagine how hard it was for her to take over with little notice.

ANWAY, I am purging her room and trying to organize it as best as I can for the year. I am taking over for the school year and will hopefully make it nice for her return. Here is my amazon wish list.

Thank you for all that you guys do! You are truly amazing people!

My name is Kaitlyn and I teach 2nd grade in the beautiful city of Salem, MA! Like so many other teachers, I am seeing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on my students' social emotional development. I have never reached out for help funding my classroom, but I truly feel the need to this year. I would love to provide my students with more flexible seating options. I would also love to provide my students with a "Calming Corner' where they can go if they need a break or a space to work through something. My list also has items that I can use with my students during my weekly "Lunch Bunch" groups. This is where I invite a small group of students to eat lunch with me and we just get to relax and talk together. This is a great opportunity to get to know my students and help them work through any challenges that they may be working through. Other items on my list are basic supplies and items to keep my students organized.
Thank you so much for supporting our classroom!

My name is Christie and I am a teacher in Malden, MA. This year I'll be co-teaching with a special education teacher, in which our classroom will be the inclusion classroom for our grade! Our goal is to make our classroom a safe, inviting, supportive environment for all our students. In order to do this we've added social emotional supports/games, tools, and learning supplies to our Amazon wish list!

Our district is a Title 1 district, serving low income families that need additional support.
Many of our students do not come to school with the supplies they need in order to learn. We often have students come in with empty backpacks, or no backpacks at all. Our district does a great job supporting teachers and trying to provide us with everything we need, however, I don't think there's a teacher out there that doesn't have to dip into their own pockets each year as well!

Any assistance in making our classroom what it needs to be for these students to succeed emotionally and academically would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

My name is JoJo Plante I am a high school geometry teacher. I work in a very diverse school where most students can't afford there own supplies. This is my fourth year teaching, but with the last few years being online, and his is my second year in the classroom. I really want to make my classroom welcoming this year and have all the supplies any of my students may need. Because I teach high school I have around 100-130 students. This year I'd really want to have a binder for every student to keep there notes in and have a place for them to keep it in the classroom. I would also love to keep some personal hygiene materials in the classroom for anyone who may need it; tampons, pads, deodorant etc. I always keep snacks in my room throughout the year so students don't have to learn on an empty stomach; granola bars, pop tarts, fruit, mints, gum, candy etc. I want every student to have what they need to be successful and some don't have the basic necessities of food and hygiene products never mind school supplies; pencils, erasers, paper, highlighters etc.  Anything you can do is a great help to me and my students. Thank you so much!

Hi! My name is Kris Cassidy and I am a Speech and Language Pathologist working with grades 6-12 in Boylston, MA. I have been there for 3 years and work with amazing teachers and students. This year, my caseload will have me working on skills covering grades 1-11. Every student works on different things according to their Individualized Educational Plan. Since I am working with younger skills this year, I have already spent $620 of my own money buying items for these students, in addition to what my district has purchased. Your help for these additional items would be greatly appreciated Thanks for looking at my list!
