It's official - we have a new millionaire in town!
Governor Charlie Baker announced the first two winners from the VaxMillions lottery sweepstakes. According to The Boston Globe, Darrell Washington of Weymouth, won the first $1 million prize!
Darrell Washington explained how important being vaccinated was to him because he has family members with comorbidities, and wanted to do everything in his power to protect them from the virus.
The VaxMillions sweepstakes was not just giving away money - they are even awarding a $300,000 scholarship, and the first lucky recipient was Daniela Maldonado, a student at Chelsea High.
Daniela told the Globe that because of this opportunity she will be able to achieve goals that may have not been possible without this scholarship.
15-year-old Daniele said she plans to attend Boston University of University of Massachusetts, and I think has an amazing future in front of her!
