While David’s current tour is completely sold-out, the singer shared that he hopes to return next year with new dates (more on that later). For now, he’s chill with just continuing to crush it — performing (for the first time in a stadium) amongst superstars like Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson and ONEREPUBLIC at We Can Survive and getting ready for his upcoming performance on The Tonight Show.
“It’s crazy,” David said of first hearing the news of The Tonight Show gig. “It’s surreal," he continued. “I feel like words are impossible to describe what it means. I just think back to when I first started writing music… and it’s kinda like what’s happening? Y’know?”
As for how it feels to hear his fans singing his lyrics back to him, David shared, “It’s wild, It’s very fulfilling knowing my intention with songwriting, which was always just wanting to make an impact and have my lyrics and words minister to people. And speaking to people’s struggles that they go to, every day struggles, y’know whatever it is. And hearing people’s stories too and how the music really helps them remind them that they’re not alone.”
After also sharing what makes a perfect playlist — which in his opinion is “variety”, as well as the song that boosts his mental health mood — “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, David divulged that he’s “working on my first 12-song album,” that’s “coming out soon,” and is “already planning tours for next year.”
