Named Billboard’s “R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Year,” Ice Spice has launched into the Rap world with amazing success. Her EP Like..? boasts four songs in the Hot R&b/Hip-Hop charts, with the song “Princess Diana” peaking at the number two spot. In addition to the charts, the EP earned the rapper a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist, while her collaborations on “Barbie World” and “Karma” added another three nominations to her pile. Despite all this, Ice Spice doesn’t have an official album debut yet -- though she’s now revealed that an album is coming sooner than we think.

In a guest interview on the Today show, hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager got right down to business and asked if the musician had any announcements to make. “Yes, there’s gonna be an album this year,” she said, with the in-studio audience cheering immediately. Ice Spice chuckled, “I’m so excited, it’s called 'Y2K.'”

The album title is a direct reference to Spice’s January 1, 2000 birthday -- a date that prompted excitement, panic, and a whole new futuristic style. Though the millennium began 24 years ago, we’ve been seeing Y2K fashions come back into play for a while now, with Vogue citing the rise of midriff tops, ballet flats, and truckers hats. And that’s not to mention the 2000s celebrity drama coming back around (Britney and Justin, anyone?)

The title also points to an Instagram post from Ice Spice back in November, where she revealed a new tattoo while wearing a bedazzled tracksuit jacket and chunky sequined jeans. “Y2K! ?/?/24” she wrote in the caption.

“It’s almost finished. I’m really excited,” she told the Today hosts of the album. When asked if the album will feature collaborations, Ice Spice again smiled. “Yes, I have a crazy collaboration that just got locked in, like, two days ago” she said, though she could not dive into further details or names.

It looks like Ice Spice will be bringing back Y2K  in Y2K-24, so prepare yourself! You can watch the announcement above, and make sure to listen to Audacy’s Ice Spice Radio to hear the hits drop.
