With the rest of the cast set to be shared on September 8, ABC announced on Thursday (8/26) that the lineup of stars will find out which pro dancer they’ll partner with on the season premiere. However, one thing we already know for certain, is that for the first time ever there will be a same-sex pairing.

Siwa, who came out as a member of the LGBTQ community in January, will be making history as a part of the first all-female dance duo to hit the DWTS dance floor.

"I am so excited to be a part of Dancing With the Stars Season 30, and to be dancing with a girl," Siwa said in the promo clip. "I think it’s so cool.”

Continuing to express her excitement during the Television Critics Association online announcement, JoJo said, “I think it breaks a wall that’s never been broken down before. It’s normal for a girl to dance with a guy, and I think that’s really cool, but it’s really special that now not only do I get to share with the world that you get to love who you love, but also you get to dance with who you want to dance with.”

When first approached, Siwa said she was asked if she wanted to be paired with a man or woman, obviously choosing the latter. Naming Lindsay Arnold, Jenna Johnson and Britt Stewart  among the show’s regular pros she’d like to be paired with. And once she does receive her paring, JoJo expressed, she wants to get right to figuring out who will lead, how they’ll dress and what types of shoes they’ll wear.

And when it comes to Siwa’s girlfriend Kylie Prew, she’s already reassured her that despite any chemistry she has with her on-air partner, it’s completely platonic. “She was like, ‘Love, you are going to be incredible,’” Siwa said. “She has been nonstop supportive.”

But more than just dance floor chemistry, sparkly costumes and debating between kicks or heels, JoJo’s stint on DWTS is about so much more. “It’s going to give so much to people out there, people of the LGBTQ community, everyone, people who feel just a little different,” she said. “I want to make it OK for the people who come after me.”
