As we previously reported, Kid Cudi was nearing the end of his surprise Coachella set when he jumped off the stage to get closer to fans. The 40-year-old rapper wasn’t solid on his feet and landed by rolling his right foot quite badly. He had difficulty getting off stage and was ultimately aided by Coachella security, ending the show without addressing the crowd. The rapper had since announced that his foot was actually broken but was still hoping to have enough recovery time in the two months before his studio album tour began in June.

Unfortunately, the foot injury was much more serious than he realized. In a screenshot note posted across all his social media channels, Cudi announced that he will actually need surgery and, therefore, has to cancel his tour until further notice. “Guys, so I have a broken calcaneus,” he began, pairing the statement with a face-palm emoji. “I'm headed to surgery now and there's gonna be a long recovery time. We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in top shape to rage with you all.”

Cudi was clearly upset by the situation overall, expressing that full refunds would be issued and new dates announced as soon as possible. “I’m so sorry fam and I love you all so much, thank you for the endless love and support,” he wrote. “Im really disappointed as im sure you guys are too, but i will be back. That's a promise.”

Overall, he’s being a great sport about the whole situation, even joking alongside his fans about the injury itself. A post from two days ago shows the rapper in an ambulance, with an ear-to-ear smile and a thumbs-up. “All smiles like a G. No pain coulda stopped me from feelin the joy I felt from the show” he said at the time. In another video post, he was shaking his head and laughing at himself for the jump. Laid up in bed, he recorded a selfie saying, “This is what happens when a 40-year old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26, like he used to do back in the day.”

“I learned a valuable lesson - no more prancing around, jumping off stages,” he said between chuckles.

The Insano: Engage the Rage tour was set to have 43 dates beginning in North America before moving on to Europe and other locations. Pusha T, Jaden, and Earthgang were also scheduled as openers, though that is now in the wind. Details on rescheduled dates or venues are still in the works- for now, Cudi is focused on his recovery. Best of luck Cudi, and maybe don’t break a leg!
