Michael J. Fox will not stop fighting Parkinson’s Disease.
Speaking with Town & Country for a new cover story, the 62-year-old actor discussed his 30 plus year battle with the disease.
“I’ve said Parkinson’s is a gift,” he said. “It’s the gift that keeps on taking, but it has changed my life in so many positive ways.”
One such positive has been the creation of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an organization that funds research for therapies for those living with Parkinson’s.
Fox’s health and battle with the disease have seen him survive a dangerous spinal surgery and frightening falls causing broken arms, a hand, and face bones, which he referred to as a “tsunami of misfortune.”
He continued, saying he wasn’t afraid.
“One day I’ll run out of gas,” Fox said. “One day I’ll just say, ‘It’s not going to happen. I’m not going out today.’ If that comes, I’ll allow myself that. I’m 62 years old. Certainly, if I were to pass away tomorrow, it would be premature, but it wouldn’t be unheard of. And so, no, I don’t fear that.”
