Portia de Rossi is recovering at home now after having to undergo emergency surgery for appendicitis on Friday night.

A rep for the coupe confirmed to People that de Rossi is resting and "doing well" following the procedure. The 48-year-old actress was driven to the hospital by wife Ellen DeGeneres, a source confirmed to people.

"Ellen rushed Portia to the hospital on Friday night, she was in a lot of pain," a source tells PEOPLE. "It was appendicitis and she had surgery."

The source also added that de Rossi is "resting at home and Ellen is taking care of her. It was a scare at first, but all good now."

Appendicitis occurs when the appendix's lining becomes inflamed. The organ can burst if the issue is not resolved quickly - typically with surgery.

This isn't the only health scare the couple has endured in the coronavirus quarantine period. Back in December, DeGeneres tested positive for the deadly virus.

During a taping of her show in January, DeGeneres revealed the almost humorous way she found out she was a carrier of the illness. "Obviously there's a lot of negative things going on, so I want to talk about something positive, my COVID test," she quipped at the start of the episode, reassuring viewers, "I'm fine now, I'm all good. Everything's clear."

She then went on to explain how she found out she had tested positive.

"I was getting ready to tape the show that you were going to be here for, and I was in hair and makeup, getting my face powdered and my extensions put in and then my assistant, Craig, walks in and says, 'You've tested positive for COVID,'" the talk show host recalls. "And then everyone around me ran away. It's funny, people just really get scared. Some have not come back since."
