Tory Lanez is coming to Kanye West’s defense, with a campaign to “protect Black men” from “cancel culture.” The Toronto rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, created a Change.org petition titled “Keep our Black men on Coachella and all other festivals.”

“I just made this... because someone has to,” Tory tweeted earlier this week, promoting the petition. The bold move was sparked by a previous online campaign to pull West from this year’s Coachella lineup. The “Remove Kanye from Coachella!” petition, launched earlier this month, now has over 40,000 signatures. Yesterday, it had around 30,000 signatures.
Tory’s newly-launched petition has over 1,000 signatures thus far (out of 1,500). An excerpt of the petition description reads: "We are watching the industry and fake cancel culture remove all of our legendary black men, black celebrities and black moguls ….from festivals, from our culture and from our lives...and it starts with us...we must make a change...so we can keep our black men thriving”
At this time, Ye is still headlining Coachella 2022 along with Bille Ellish, Harry Styles, and Swedish House Mafia. However, the “Eazy” rapper has been removed as a performer at this year’s GRAMMYs reportedly due to "concerning online behavior."
