Sofia Carson joined us for an Audacy Check In and shared all the details about her latest single “LOUD,” and what’s coming next for the Descendants actress-turned Popstar.

Carson kicked off 2022 with the release of her newest record and told Audacy’s Julia, that it was intentional that she entered into the new year with a track that carries a powerful statement. “‘LOUD’ is a song that is dedicated to all the women of the world and to all the loud voices of change,” explained Carson. “We’re in such an exciting time in history right now for women, where it feels like history is really being made by fearless, loud young women.”
The artist noted that she aimed to come into 2022 celebrating the female agents of change that she admires most. Carson noted Amanda Gourman, Malala Yousafzai, Cher, and her mother are just a few of the figures that have inspired her throughout her life and her career.
Sofia explained, “as women, being loud or knowing what we want can make you difficult, rather than someone who just knows what she wants. To be able to freely say that sentiment, like ‘no I was made to be loud! I’m sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, but this is who I am and this is what I stand for,’ is a really cool thing to say.”

As Sofia continues to further her identity as a Pop artist, Carson shared that “LOUD,” feels like "a really beautiful marriage of who I am as a person and who I am as an artist, and not everything feels like that.” The former Austin & Ally actress revealed that after releasing a record that aligns with her values she’d rather continue creating music that is distinctly in sync with her morals.
With the promise of new music on the horizon, Carson told us that more songs will be arriving in 2022. Additionally, the “He Loves Me, But…” songstress shared that she had the opportunity to produce her first film with Netflix. Not only did Carson write music for the upcoming movie, but she also plays the lead character in Purple Hearts. The movie is currently being edited and will arrive on the streaming platform sometime this year.
“It’s a story that’s really really close to my heart and that I think will resonate with a lot of women around the world,” she shared
