In a statement posted to the show’s Instagram account, producers said that Williams’ show would not be returning for a 13th season on Oct. 4, as previously scheduled.

“Wendy will not be returning with new shows on Oct. 4,” the statement said. “She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work.”

The current plan is for the season to premiere on Oct. 18, according to the statement.

“The Wendy Williams Show” was originally set to return on Sept.
20, but was delayed due to Williams’ breakthrough COVID-19 diagnosis.

Days after testing positive, Williams also allegedly checked into a hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to a Page Six report.

Producers said Williams is no longer suffering from COVID-19, though there are lingering health effects.

“Her breakthrough COVID case is no longer an issue and she has tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues,” the show’s statement read.

It’s believed that when the show does return on Oct. 18, there will be no audience. The show previously told Page Six that the first episode of the new season will instead feature “a full hour of her and ‘Hot Topics.’”

“Hot Topics” is a segment that Williams typically reserves for Monday episodes, in which the talk show host discusses celebrity news, tabloid headlines and more and provides her opinions.
