Two down, one to go.

Connor Wong has been called up to the Red Sox, setting the stage for his major league debut. The catcher takes the place of Kevin Plawecki on the 26-man roster after the Sox backup injured his left hamstring Sunday.

Wong is the second player received by the Red Sox in their trade of Mookie Betts and David Price to the Dodgers to make it to the big leagues, joining Alex Verdugo.

Jeter Downs, who has been alternating between second base and shortstop for Triple-A Worcester, is the other piece that came from Los Angeles in the deal.

Wong was the talk of spring training, impressing the major league coaching staff with his both his defensive acumen but surprising power, hitting one of the longest homers in this year's Red Sox' Grapefruit League schedule.

He has, however, struggled in the first couple months of the Triple-A season, going just 9-for-61 (.148), making 15 starts at catcher and one at second base. The 25-year-old has, however, thrown out seven of the 11 baserunners attempting to steal on him.

Wong is one of four catchers on the Red Sox' 40-man roster, joining Plawecki, Christian Vazquez and Ronaldo Hernandez, who is currently playing for Double-A Portland.
