The NHL's outdoor rink at Lake Tahoe has provided spectacular views and photos, but it's also provided some real challenges when it comes to actually playing hockey.
The ice has clearly been an issue during Saturday afternoon's Colorado-Vegas game, with the clear, sunny skies creating lots of soft spots that not only slowed the puck and skating, but made it unsafe, with several players appearing to catch an edge.
The NHL was forced to extend the first intermission to 30 minutes to allow more time to work on the ice, before ultimately postponing the rest of the game to Saturday night.
With that in mind, and in an effort to avoid a repeat on Sunday when the forecast once again calls for clear skies and lots of sun, the NHL announced that the Bruins-Flyers game has been moved to 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on Sunday. The game will now air on NBCSN instead of NBC.
The game was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT, then moved to 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, and now moved again to try to avoid the middle of the day completely.
The Bruins have not yet been on the ice themselves, as their morning practice scheduled for Saturday was moved to a different rink to give the ice crew more time to get the rink ready for Avalanche-Golden Knights.
The Bruins will be without David Krejci, Ondrej Kase, Matt Grzelcyk, Kevan Miller and Jakub Zboril for the game.
Kase, Grzelcyk and Zboril were all out already. Krejci suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday night's game and is considered day-to-day. Coach Bruce Cassidy said he is hopeful Krejci will be able to practice this coming week and potentially return Thursday night.
Miller's absence is more precautionary. He has played every game this season after returning from multiple knee surgeries, but Cassidy said he was feeling a little sore recently and they wanted to make sure they're being careful, so they decided to rest him Sunday since it will essentially give Miller a full week off between games. He is expected to return for Thursday's game.
Here is how the Bruins are expected to line up for Sunday's game:
