Nelson Agholor spoke to the New England media for the first time on Wednesday and when it comes to his decision to join the Patriots, it seems Cam Newton and Josh McDaniels were major draws.

The 27-year-old spent the first five years of his career with the Eagles before joining the Raiders last season. Agholor had one of the best years of his career, averaging 18.7 yards per catch and finishing with eight touchdowns.

As for what he will bring to the Patriots?

“The first thing I know I will bring is professionalism — how I prepare and how hard I play," he said. "I think those are things I can control. And then from there on, I think Coach McDaniels has a plan and it’s for me to follow his plan and execute it out there.”

Agholor has moved all over the field over the course of his career and he noted that will likely continue in New England because of the way McDaniels runs his offense.

“I am just comfortable going out there executing concepts," he said. "I like to be able to move around depending on scenario, or situation, or routes that need to be executed. I think Coach McDaniels historically has done a great job with moving his receivers around and I am excited for that opportunity.”

It was certainly notable how many times he brought up McDaniels unprompted.

The wide receiver has already connected with Newton, as the two are part of a group working out together in California this week.

“I mean, Cam Newton is a great quarterback," he said. "I think he’s a league MVP for a reason. I know he can do whatever needs to be done, and for me it’s just about getting out there and practicing with him. I am just excited. I am excited to work with him. I am excited to grow. I know he will push me and I am also excited [because] Coach McDaniels is going to put us in position.”

This will be his third team and he is looking forward to what is to come.

“I am super excited," Agholor said. "The picture is very clear when you join the Patriots. We have one goal in mind and we work every hard towards that goal and it takes a great sacrifice. I think for me, what I have been through and understanding I had to sacrifice to grow as a player and to perform at a high level, I really embrace being part of this team.”
