The Patriots focused on offense over the weekend in the NFL Draft. On Monday, they turned their attention toward a key part of their defense, reportedly locking up defensive tackle Christian Barmore on a four-year extension.
The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed was the first to report the deal. According to ESPN, the deal is worth up to $92 million, with $41.8 million guaranteed.
The 24-year-old Barmore was a second-round pick in 2021 and has played all 17 games in two of his three NFL seasons.
He set career highs across the board last year, recording 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits and six pass deflections.
Barmore was entering the final year of his current contract, but will now be locked up through the 2028 season.
