When Troy Brown hit the podium on Tuesday afternoon, I don’t think he expected to break any Patriots news. He, however, may have done just that.
When speaking about wide receiver Demario ‘Pop’ Douglas’ new role as the team’s punt returner, Brown revealed that cornerback Marcus Jones will be out for the rest of the season:
"[Douglas] has worked really hard at fielding the ball... so hopefully he continues to improve on that with Marcus [Jones] being out for the year now."
gresh and fauria: Is bill Belichick a comedy genius?
Jones left New England's Week 2 loss versus the Dolphins with a shoulder injury and did not return. It was later revealed that he tore his labrum, and he was subsequently placed on injured reserve on September 22nd.
Tuesday's revelation from Brown is the first we've heard of the cornerback's recovery progress and while it's unclear if he's had surgery on the injured shoulder, it now sounds like it will cost him the remainder of the Patriots' 2023 campaign.
