6 rings: Final thoughts and grades from the Patriots' upset win on Christmas Eve

The Patriots officially did the inevitable on Wednesday afternoon, placing Rhamondre Stevenson on injured reserve and ending his 2023 season.

The move was one many expected given that, at 4-11, New England is out of playoff contention and would risk a re-injury of their running back with just two virtually meaningless games to go.

Placing Stevenson on IR opened up a roster spot, which the Patriots used immediately as they claimed former Cardinals cornerback Marco Wilson off waivers. They beat out the Broncos and Titans, who also put in claims for the 2021 fourth-round pick.

New England hit the practice field on Thursday for their second-to-last tune-up before heading to Buffalo. Here's who was, and wasn't, at the session:

Attendance:

Absent:
S Jalen Mills
S Jabrill Peppers
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
WR Kayshon Boutte

IR:

Other Notes:

- New England's newest cornerback Marco Wilson was in attendance, donning his new jersey No. 19.

- Jalen Mills, who missed Wednesday's practice, has a concussion which puts his status for Sunday's game in Buffalo in doubt.

- After missing Wednesday's practice with an illness, Trent Brown returned on Thursday.
