The Triston Casas excitement just amped up.
According to a team source, the Red Sox are promoting the 21-year-old first-round pick to Triple-A Worcester.
Casas was great with Double-A Portland this season, smacking 13 home runs and slashing .284/.395/.484 in 329 plate appearances. The left-handed slugger also shined on the international stage: Casas led Team USA with three home runs and eight RBI.
However, he wasn’t happy about it. Casas told the Boston Globe he was so disappointed with winning silver, he wasn’t even going to hang it in his house.
With nine games left in the season, Casas will get a decent taste of Triple-A action, setting himself up nicely for next year.
Let the countdown to Fenway commence.
