Yankees sent 2004 Red Sox highlight videos around to team for inspiration


With the Yankees facing a nearly insurmountable deficit in the ALCS, the team has reportedly turned to inspiration from one of the darkest times in franchise history.

Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, before the start of game four of the ALCS, with the Yankees trailing 3-0 after another silent offensive night in the Bronx on Saturday, New York mental skills coach Chad Bohling sent highlight videos around to the team to help remember that a 3-0 deficit has been overcome once before.

Those highlights, of course, were of the 2004 Red Sox, who stunned the Yankees with four straight wins to slay the curse of the Bambino.

Per Boone, David Ortiz, one of the heroes of that ALCS and a Boston sports legend because of it, FaceTimed the Yankee manager in his office before game four.
