The days of the current Spaceship Earth are numbered as Disney has announced the ride will close on May 25th for an extended refurbishment and renovation.
Disney announced at the D23 Expo in 2019 that Spaceship Earth would be closing for an extensive overhaul to bring it up to the standards of today as currently the "future" scene takes place in the 80s and 90s.
Disney did not announce how long the ride will remain closed, but rumors point to nearly 2 years due to the major scope of work that is needed.
This is all a part of a massive overhaul of Epcot which is set to transform the park into a new era.
