Taylor Swift may be all pink butterflies and sparkly dresses in 2020, however 2017 painted a much darker picture of the megastar.
After Taylor finished her tour for her hit album 1989, she went into hiding.
She wasn't seen or heard from for a while and fans were getting antsy for new music, but Taylor Swift was changing the narrative that was written for her. She was taking control of her reputation that many said was out of control. (It wasn't, but okay.)
She then wiped her social media one day in 2017 and fans went crazy realizing that something was happening.
Then, a snake emerged, which was similar to the emoji Kim Kardashian used on Instagram to describe Taylor.
After a few more teases, reputation was announced as Taylor's 7th studio album and it was unlike any album she had written before.
It was dark, gritty, heavy synth, and yet, it still was the same old Taylor even though she declared "the old Taylor is dead" in "Look What You Made Me Do."
She did no press tours for this album. She made no talk show appearances, something she did non-stop with her previous albums.
reputation went on to sell over 1 million copies during opening week and to many fans delight, a massive stadium tour was announced after.
However, during this entire time, Taylor was documenting her entire life with a camera crew for a new documentary, "Miss Americana" that we wouldn't find out about until the end of 2019.
Flash forward now to today, and Swifties everywhere will be logging onto Netflix tonight around midnight to watch the documentary about one Miss Taylor Swift.
A documentary that is getting rave reviews might I add.
No there won't be a review of the documentary because why would I judge someone's real life? Why would I write a "review" about a woman who is living her life and taking control of her career?
Nah. Instead, I'll watch it over and over and over and sing along to my favorite Taylor songs in my bedroom like any normal 30-year-old man would do.
