Sure you're stuck at home more than you like and while there might not be haunted houses and Halloween parties this year, there are still plenty of fun things you can do with the family that are Fall inspired. OK, a few of these are kind of cheesy, I'll admit. However, it could spark an idea that you can use to make it fun for your family!
1. They'll be popping up anytime, so go visit a pumpkin patch. As long as you're using hand sanitizer before touching pumpkins, you should be good! Plus, it's usually pretty spread out, so people are able to social distance.
2. Carving or decorating pumpkins at home.
3. Decorating your house or apartment for Fall or Halloween. October will be here next week, so it's not too early!
4. Take a walk around the neighborhood to look at other decorated houses. Exercise and fresh air!
5. Doing a scavenger hunt where kids get lists of fall-themed things to look for while they walk around outdoors, like a pumpkin on a porch or a skeleton decoration on a door.
6. Have a virtual Halloween costume contest over Zoom with your family in another state or friends locally.
7. How about a Halloween movie night in the backyard?
8. If you can't trick-or-treat, you can hide candy around the house or backyard like it's Easter.
9. Bake pumpkin seeds or a dessert that tastes immediately reminds you of Fall, like a pumpkin pie.
10. Heat up some hot cocoa or apple cider and have a family game night. You'll just have to turn down the AC in the house to make it feel like Fall, LOL.
These ideas and several more can be found at Yahoo, Emerson Hospital and Cleveland Clinic.
