Three Positives About Celebrating Mother's Day This Weekend

Mother's Day might be a little different this year for obvious reasons, but there are some good things we can focus on, too! Here are three possible upsides of celebrating Mom this year from the National Retail Federation:

1.  Mother's Day might be more meaningful this year than any other year.  For a lot of us, the pandemic has made it even more important to us to show our family members that we care.  So, when it comes to your Mom, wife, or girlfriend (who have been shouldering new responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the kids), they definitely need some extra appreciation this year. This means we're going all out to show them how much we love them and appreciate all they do.

2.  You might be planning to spend more this year on Mom.  The average person says they plan to spend $205 for Mother's Day this year, which is about $8 more than last year. People under 25 years old are actually planning on spending $39 more than they did last year.  Mainly because they're more likely to buy Mom electronics, like an Alexa, Google, or Facebook device that makes it easier to connect. So, you might be getting a sweet gift this year Mom!

3.  You have the opportunity to get creative.  Even if you don't have extra funds to get Mom a gift, which a lot of people don't this year, that doesn't mean Mom won't get an awesome gift! Instead of making a pricey purchase, you can get creative instead! Instead of the store-bought card, make one. Try something new this year, like breakfast in bed, a spa day at home, doing a puzzle together, watching her favorite movie, driving by her house with signs and balloons, or planning a family video call.

Whatever you decide, have an amazing time and to all the awesome Moms, enjoy your day! -Jay
