Hurricane Ida made landfall earlier today on the Louisiana coast and is causing catastrophic damage as it makes its way inland. Sadly, today also marks 16 years to the day when Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a a Cat 4 hurricane at Plaquemines Parish, Louisana.
We can't control Mother Nature, but what we can do is come together as a community and help those in need. We've seen the nation come together and help us in Central Florida when it's happened to us, so it's time to help our brothers and sisters on the Gulf Coast.
There are several ways to help, but one of the easiest is by donating $10 to the America Red Cross who provides disaster recovery to those in the path of Hurricane Ida. You can simply text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. The $10 will simply be added to your net cell phone bill.
You can also visit redcross.org or call 800-RED-CROSS to make a donation. You can also click HERE and that link will take you directly to the disaster relief page for the American Red Cross.
The Salvation Army also provides disaster relief and they are taking donations for Hurricane Ida. 100% of your donation will be applied to the relief fund of your choice, simply choose "Hurricane Ida" for your donation to help those affected by the hurricane. FEMA also provides assistance to those in the path of Hurricane Ida. Here is a link if you have anyone in the path of the storm to get food, shelter, medical assistance or housing. There are also some very important contact numbers for those affected by the storm that you can share one it has passed and the damage has been assessed. FEMA Link
God Bless Louisiana and all those affected by Hurricane Ida. Thank you for your help. -Jay
