If you can feel your jeans pressed snugly to your lower legs as you read this article, I've got bad news. Your skinny jeans have been deemed "out of style" by Gen Z. Apparently there has been a bunch of Tik Tok videos mocking skinny jeans and encouraging people to wear baggier jeans instead.
It seems like just yesterday (realistically, 20 years ago) that skinny jeans were the hot new thing. The skinnier the better. Even men embraced the tight fitting pants. Now Gen Z has decided that they make you look old. Millenials, however, are fighting for Skinny Jeans. As a proud Millennial, I firmly believe that skinny jeans are still cool and baggy jeans look ridiculous. I'm old enough to remember the baggy pants craze of the 90's. Remember how absurd that was? JNCO jeans got so big that it looked people were just wrapping two denim bedsheets around their legs. It. was. silly.
Whether or not Gen Z is able to successfully bring skinny jeans to the brink of extinction, we all have a wardrobe choice to make. To keep the skinny jeans, or throw them out like we did with waterpolo t-shirts or those jeans without pockets in the back (I hated those). Or you could just ditch pants altogether, which has become more socially acceptable in these work-from-home pandemic times.
