It's officially November, and there's a lot to get excited. First off, November is basically the start of the Holidays. We all know that once Halloween is over, there's no sense in messing around. It's on to Christmas. Here are five things that are happening this month that I'm super excited for:

1. The Time Change

I know this might be unpopular, but I'm ready to turn back the ol' clocks. I mean, at this point it's already getting dark early so let's just get it over with. Personally I kinda like when it's dark at 5pm because then it always seems earlier than it really is. You know, you're starting to yawn on the couch and look at the clock and realize you've still got like three hours before bedtime. Nice. (similar to waking up and realizing your alarm doesn't off for a couple more hours)

2. Thanksgiving

Obviously. The greatest holiday of them all for people like me whose hobbies include eating and also eating. Turkey or ham? I've always been a (dark) turkey guy but it's the sides that are the real winners, in my opinion. I'm dreaming about a pile of stuffing smothered in gravy right now, in fact.

If you didn't know, I play in a rock band called Low Standards. Every so often we like to do a night of tributes to bands we grew up loving. On November 12th (in Fargo, ND), we are doing entire sets of songs from Weezer, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and my favorite, blink-182. Getting to play all of the songs I've been obsessed with for years is always such an extreme natural high for me.

4. Living in Our New Home

My wife Lauryn and I just purchased our first home and moved in this week. It's a cute little house in Kissimmee. Living in the heart of Downtown Orlando on the 25th floor these last couple years has been a blast, don't get me wrong, but we are very excited to be out in a quiet neighborhood in our own space. November will be our first month living here and I can't wait for all the home projects that I'm sure will come up. I'm mostly excited to go into full dad-mode and throw on my white new balances, grab a beer and mow the lawn.

5. Christmas Lights in Central Florida

I know it's not even December, but as we discussed early, there's no sense in waiting to start showing your holiday spirit. While it is weird celebrating the holidays in a humid-subtropical climate, Central Florida goes harder with the Christmas lights than any place I've ever seen. My wife and I love to walk around Lake Eola once they put up all their decorations, not to mention all the cool displays at the theme parks.

What are you most looking forward to this month? I wish you a wonderful November full of success and happiness. Oh and let me be the first to say.... Happy Holidays.
